Breathwork
Use your breath to switch off your analytical mind
“I've been doing different types of breathwork for many years. When Rory offered this experience, I was immediately interested. It was amazing – I felt like a different person afterwards. You need to try it to see what I mean.”
Lyn L, Psychologist
Out of all the ways to get out of our heads and into our bodies, the breath is one of the most powerful.
We spend our days in old thought patterns and being held back subconsciously by stuck stress and energy in the body.
Breathwork is a way to unlock this energy and gain greater clarity and insight in our daily lives.

What is breathwork?
This is an active, two-part breathing technique: two breaths in – one into the belly, one into the chest – then one breath out, all through the mouth.
It's not the slow, calming style of breathing most people have come across before. That kind is good for settling you in the moment. This kind is built to shift what's already stored in the body – old stress, grief, anger, frustration – rather than just quieten it for an hour.
In this style, we set ourselves up comfortably lying down with our eyes closed allowing us to have a deep, powerful experience with vocal guidance and music.
Breathing this way through the mouth turns down the analytical mind. Instead of talking yourself through what's going on, you feel it directly. The body does the work. Your only job is to keep breathing.
“This was my first experience of this type of breathwork and I felt able to participate because of my trust in Rory. After finishing, I felt calm and in a very deep space within myself, which was a beautiful sensation. I’m looking forward to my next session!”
Mairi, Edinburgh
How breathwork is different from meditation
If you've done any of my meditation work, this sits alongside it rather than replacing it. I’ve been meditating twice a day since 2014 and it’s an essential part of my day.
But when I came across this style of breathwork a few years ago, it had such a significant effect that I knew I wanted to be able to provide the experience for others.
Meditation quietens the mind day to day. Breathwork goes a layer deeper, into the stuff meditation alone often doesn't reach – tension and emotion that's stored in the body itself, not just circling in your head.
What to expect
Sessions bring up a real range of experience: full-body tingling, hands cramping, heat or cold moving through you, sudden yawning, waves of emotion that can run from sadness to rage to unexpected laughter. All of it is normal.
Some of what surfaces is what you came for – feeling lighter, feeling more energy or joy. Some of it you won't know until you're in it. Either way, you're in control of your own breath throughout, and you can always slow down.
What people use it for
Releasing emotion that's been stuck for a long time – grief, anger, resentment
Clearer thinking and sharper focus
Intuitive insights into past experiences or future actions
Better sleep
A more honest relationship with yourself

Group sessions
Group breathwork online is a great way to experience this technique in the comfort of your home.
The sessions go for around two hours, with discussion to either side of the active breathing and plenty of opportunity to ask questions and understand your experience. There is no obligation to take part in the discussion. It’s suitable for beginners and you need no prior experience.
Join the next session below on Sunday October 11 2026. Cost is $70 AUD (approx £35).
1:1 sessions
For something more personal, I run one-on-one breathwork sessions online and in person near Byron Bay, NSW for $300 AUD. Contact me here for details and availability.
A note before you book
Breathwork can be intense, physically and emotionally. It isn't a substitute for medical or psychological care. If you're pregnant, managing a heart or respiratory condition, or living with a significant mental health diagnosis, get in touch before booking so we can talk through whether it's the right fit for you right now.
I recently did two sessions with each being very different. In the first, I released some grief about my late parents, whereas the second one was a purely joyful experience. I really enjoyed the musical aspect and would recommend it to anyone open to unlocking, feeling and expressing emotions.

About me
I have been teaching Vedic Meditation since 2016 and have since trained in trauma-informed breathwork healing which I have been running online and in person, including on my 2026 Bali retreat (pictured).
I have had many powerful breathwork experiences myself which is why I wanted to offer this healing practice.
