Learn Vedic Meditation online

Can you learn Vedic Meditation online?

This is a common question and the answer divides opinion in the Vedic Meditation community.

Traditionally, Vedic Meditation was taught in-person. New meditators brought fruit and flowers and witnessed a puja gratitude ceremony before being given their mantras.

This is how I learned and it is the way that has been proven to work over many decades by many teachers.

However, we now live in a more connected world with technology that the ancient seers of India didn’t have access to.

As a teacher, one of my key values is a healthy balance of respect for tradition as well as adapting to the times.

For this reason, I offer Vedic Meditation online, respecting the traditional elements but making use of 21st century technology.

I perform the puja gratitude ceremony and you enjoy the training from the comfort of your home with your own personalised mantra.

What is meditation for?

Meditation is a set of practices designed to help you relax, release stress and develop yourself. Most techniques use an “anchor” which you rest your awareness on. It takes you away from everyday thoughts to a place of stillness.

Vedic Meditation

The Vedic Meditation technique comes to us from a tradition dating back thousands of years ago in India. Countless scientific studies in recent decades have shown it to systematically reduce stress and anxiety. We sit with our eyes closed for 20 minutes once or twice a day and effortlessly repeat a mantra, gently returning to it whenever we find ourselves lost in thought.

Why use a mantra?

Unlike other anchors, the mantra speaks the same language as our thoughts. “I’ve tried several other techniques,” says Rory, “including mindfulness-based breathing and body-scan techniques and have found mantra to be the easiest. For many of us, hearing is something we already associate with relaxation and the mantra uses the same vibrational language as music, which resonates with many of us.”

"I've just completed Rory's meditation course after experiencing burnout. The Vedic style of meditation has been fantastic for me (compared to the more mindful style I've dabbled with in the past). I feel like I'm back to my best and I'm looking forward to the long-term benefits meditation will bring. Rory is an excellent teacher" ★★★★★
